Environment and Gardens - Dan Beck

Folk Art Site, Environment and gardens
Site Status: private property - visible from the street

Information:

Dan's garage says "ART IS COOL," and his house and the yards surrounding it attest to how much he believes that to be true.
For starters, there's that unusual color scheme and Oriental ornamentation, not to mention the vast quantities of rocks that Dan's hauled in from surrounding counties to create what he calls "different rooms" around the property. Oh yeah, some of the property he builds on is actually the city's, which hasn't stopped him from creating. His little "people parks" replete with flowers, shrubs and butterfly habitats make this inner city neighborhood more livable, he feels.
Dan was a debater and mathematician, and comes from a family of high achievers. As a child he was threatened with the admonition to study hard or he'd end up with a wheelbarrow and shovel. He's happy to say that's what he chose in the long run, anyway.
