Spring Hill, KS
Katie Dallam

Information:

Katie's story is believed to have been the inspiration for the current movie "Million Dollar Baby."

In 1996, Katie was severely injured in a boxing match. She almost died, and part of her brain was destroyed. Through years of rigorous therapies, she relearned how to walk, talk and care for herself. Her indomitable spirit and support from her family helped her overcome her despair and suicidal thoughts.

Prior to her head injury Katie worked as a psychologist for the state of Missouri. Today, Katie is disabled. Painting is what now gives her life meaning.

Her work is unplanned, instinctive, and raw.
