Aeroplane - Punch Mbhele

unknown
Sculpture environment

Information:

Punch Mbhele (1969-), Bergville 3350, 38km from Bergville towards Royal Natal National Park, 2km from Tower of Pizza, South Africa - "As a young schoolboy, Punch Mbhele followed the African tradition and built his own toys. However, in 1986 he moved on from wire-frame cars to making aeroplanes out of scrap metal. Soon his creations were in evidence throughout the area of Natal where he lived. His most ambitious project was his house. Made from a framework of old telegraph poles and scrap wood, with a skin of old van parts, it was planned as an aeroplane, then became a helicopter, and ended up as a fish."
