Information:

The folk art pieces of Bill and Phyllis Duffy depict their love of art and life. Bill hand carves each piece from pine and Phyllis paints them with her palette of bright colors.

Bill Duffy was born in Utica, NY in 1945. He graduated from the State University of New York, where he majored in Elementary Education. He later taught for several years. From 1973 to 1980 he worked as a sales manager for Pitney Bowes in Boston.

Phyllis Cicora Duffy was born in 1950 in Elmira, NY. She moved to Boston in 1971 and was employed as an accountant by a private firm.

In 1976 the Duffys were married and purchased a farmhouse in Central NY. They left corporate life in 1980, moved to NY, with their one year old son, and began the restoration of the 1800s farmhouse with their one year old son.

Their interest in Folk Art began as an extention of the restoration, and as gifts for their son. The initial carvings were of traditional duck decoys, and shorebirds. They have since chosen a wide range of subjects creating larger projects such as Yankee Stadium, Coney Island, and A Day At The Races, which reflect their sense of humor and wit.
