With more than 20 years experience in the ceramic arts, and a lifetime of pursuing the arts in general, David's love for art and craft have evolved over time. His work has included wheel thrown pottery, handmade tiles, tile murals including installations, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, drawing, and furniture making.
David has culminated years of building upon his ceramic skills to include the Japanese Raku technique, sculptural alterations, and traditional wheel turned pottery. David relates, "My emphasis is now on form and texture, and how this relates to the historical vessels from the mid to late ninteenth century that I love so much."
"I want my work to be used and enjoyed as both utilitarian and decorative. My view on art vs. craft is that there should be no misaprehension about one being better than the other. To me, all good work in any medium takes a certain concentration and love on behalf of the maker. A good painting or a good pot should be one that stimulates and thrills the viewer and user to pause and smile."
