Information:
Tim Chess spent his first fourteen years moving around on the east coast. He then moved to San Diego, living there on and off for twenty years. He now resides in Oregon. Tim has an unusually sensitive nature and has struggled over the years to cope with the challenges of living in this fast pace, mechanistic, and isolating culture. By the time he was in his mid twenties he went into a serious depression and was unable to function in the confines of "normal" society. He has been unable to work a conventional job for the past ten years. Instinctively, he turned to drawing to process his own pain and express his deep concerns for humanity. Tim spends time in nature each day which facilitates his creative process. Drawing with intensity for hours each day, he works on both found paper (bags, cereal boxes, newspaper, etc.) and art paper, using mostly soft pastels, oil pastels, and crayon. Each work is a spontaneous outpouring of colors and emotions.
