, NC Shady Grove House of Prayer - Herman Bridgers 1912-1990 Paintings

Information: An illiterate African-American minister, Herman Bridgers made stylized painted figures from wood planks. These constructions functioned as symbolic statuary for his "Shady Grove House of Prayer," a small church and environment next to his house.
