Information:
"Justin McCarthy grew up in Weatherly, Pennsylvania, where he spent most of his life. He came from an affluent family with whom he moved to Paris after a more favored brother died."
"He was left on his own a lot, and spent time at the Louvre. His father committed suicide in 1907. He failed at law school, had a breakdown, and "drew to recover." After his family lost their money, he supported himself and his mother by raising and selling vegetables."
"After she died in 1940, he had a series of menial jobs. McCarthy began painting in the 1920's but was not "discovered" until 1962. He worked in many media and had a tremendous range of subjects, but his most frequent were current entertainment personalities, particularly movie stars and sports figures. He died in Tucson, Arizona."
