Large highway sculptures

Information:
The Enchanted Highway is a 30-mile length of county road between Dickinson and Regent, so called because of the sculptures that are being erected at regular intervals along it. And they are amazing! A huge grasshopper, a covey of quail that catches the rays of sunset beautifully, a Land-of-the-Giants farm family, all erected for no other real purpose except getting people off the interstate. The brains behind this business is Gary Greff, a former high school principal, who admits some of the local folk think he's crazy. We Don't. Like he says, the alternative for little towns like his is to wither and die. "You've gotta do something," is his constant refrain. Six more sculptures are planned, including a flock of geese, two deer, a giant fish leaping from a scrap metal pond, and a 70-foot-tall buffalo. Gary also hopes to add a water park, restaurant, and amphitheater. His excess metal-sculpting energies are evident in his own neighborhood, where trees with metal leaves seemingly bloom.
