Information:
"On the eve of his wedding, Edward Leedskalnin was jilted. In despair, he emigrated from his native Latvia to North America, eventually buying a plot of land in southern Florida in the early Twenties. He mined huge pieces of limestone and carved them into chairs, tables, plants, and a moon and star."
"He later moved to a ten-acre site, taking all his works with him. Here, he built a walled compound devoted to his lost love, still hoping she would return to him. Leedskalnin worked alone, carving and moving massive lumps of rock. The stone entrance gates are finely balanced and open at a touch."
