Charlie Stagg

Environment and sculptures

Information:

Charlie Stagg has been a fascination for the residents of Vidor, Texas for some time now. He does something with bottles that most of us only dream of doing. He recycles and uses them to build with. I wouldn't have believed the immensity of his projects until we paid him a visit this last January 2005 at his A. V. Stagg Art Studio and Wildlife Preserve. Out in the middle of the piney woods of southeast Texas, we found the most awe-inspiring structures spiraling toward the sky. People, including local school children from the surrounding areas save their bottles and unusual pieces of glass just for Mr. Stagg. After spending an afternoon with him, I believe as long as there are bottles and his health permits - Charlie will continue to build onto his structure. This building can be found in the book "Xtreme Interiors" on Amazon.com.

With artistic appreciation, I would have been satisfied just to view his building. Once inside, I soon realised that Mr. Stagg's talents weren't limited to recycling old bottles. In the core of his structure is a working art studio and loft where he paints and builds intricate wooden structures reminiscent of DNA molecules.
