B. W. Crawford "The Pecan Picasso"
unknown
Sculptures with nuts
|
|
Information:
He thought like a nut, and it worked really well for Buell Crawford. First he sold pecans, then started making art with them to help attract business. Eventually, he had a whole garage full of his pop culture pecan personalities, and made appearances with them on David Letterman and other network TV shows.
B.W. was a bit of a showman, but his sense of humor was matched by a good grasp of color and form. He passed away shortly after we visited, and apparently some of the pieces (the ones that weren't too political or over the top) were given to the local museum.
