Information:
Built: 1937-1962
Nathan Edward Galloway was a woodwork teacher and after retirement in 1937, he started working on his monument to the Native American. The central feature is a 27-metre cement totem pole standing on a turtle's back and covered in reliefs of figures and faces, including representations of Sitting Bull and Geronimo. A smaller structure and a concrete tree are similarly embellished.
Alongside them is the eleven-sided Fiddle House, originally Galloway's workshop and a display area for his wooden carvings and hand-made fiddles. After Galloway's death, the Totem Pole Park was abandoned, but in recent years it has been restored by volunteers from the Kansas Grassroots Art Association. The Park is now owned and operated by the Rogers County Historical Society.
The World's Largest Totem Pole & The Fiddle House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
